Tracked Crawler Carrier Product

Overview

A tracked crawler carrier is a compact, self-propelled dump truck designed for soft, steep, and marshy terrain where wheeled vehicles sink or slip. The machine is built around twin hydraulic-drive rubber tracks, a diesel engine, and a hydraulic dump body. It carries payloads of 1.5–4 tonnes at walking speed over slopes up to 45 degrees and ground pressures as low as 0.3 kg/cm², making it ideal for building sites with poor access, dam construction, forest work, and hillside excavation support.

The machine is rugged and simple — no transmission, no differentials — just two hydrostatic track motors steered independently by the operator's joystick. A flat underbody lets it ford shallow water and a robust frame withstands side loading on slopes.

How it works

The Diesel Engine & Cooling, a turbocharged diesel rated 100–150 kW, idles on the chassis and powers a fixed-displacement Main Hydraulic Pump that delivers 200–300 L/min at 280 bar into the crawler-carrier-hydraulic-system. The pump outlet feeds a series of proportional Proportional Directional Valve spools, each controlled by the operator's Joystick Control.

The operator stands in the Operator Cabin or walks alongside, moving the joystick left, right, or forward. Joystick commands signal solenoids on the proportional valves, metering flow to the Left Track Drive Motor and Right Track Drive Motor. Each motor is a fixed-displacement bent-axis piston motor, running at speeds determined by the flow signal — push the joystick half-forward and both motors idle at half speed; push left and the left motor shuts off while the right motor spins, turning the machine in place (zero-radius turn).

The track motors drive the Drive Sprocket on each side, pulling the Rubber Track Belt around the circuit. The belt is rubber-over-steel, typically 300–500 mm wide, with steel lugs molded into the tread for mud grip. Under each side is a Track Frame that carries the Track Roller, typically four to six small wheels supporting the belt between the drive sprocket at the front and the Idler Wheel at the rear. The idler wheel is spring-loaded to keep the belt tensioned evenly.

All of this — engine, pump, motors, and control manifold — is bolted to the Main Chassis, a heavy welded steel box. The Hydraulic Dump Bed is hinged at the rear and carries two Dump Lift Cylinder, double-acting hydraulic cylinders connected to a solenoid valve. A raise-command pilot-opens the solenoids, and pump oil flows into the cylinders, lifting the bed to 45–50 degrees. Gravity and a return spring bring it back down.

The Track Suspension & Dampers, consisting of Track Spring Arm arms and Hydraulic Shock Absorber units, allows the Track Roller to articulate up and down independently, following ground contours without jarring the operator. This suspension is critical on slopes — side-slope compliance prevents the machine from tipping when climbing a hillside perpendicular to the fall line.

The Hydraulic Tank, typically 600–1,000 L, sits low in the frame for stability and serves as a heat sink and settlement tank. The Hydraulic Filter protects the pump and motors from contamination. Pressure sensors on the pump outlet allow the operator to monitor system health, and the Pressure Relief Valve limits peak pressure to 280 bar to protect seals and hoses.

Steering is infinitely variable — there is no locked differential. An operator can drive forward in a straight line, instantly turn 90 degrees left, run sideways (crabbing) across a slope, or spin in place without moving forward or backward. This agility combined with low ground pressure makes the machine invaluable for site work where wheeled vehicles would leave rutted mud roads and tracked machines would grind the terrain.
