Hydraulic Dock Leveler Product
Overview
A loading-dock leveler is the adjustable bridge between a warehouse floor and a parked trailer. The two are almost never at the same height — trailer beds vary, and they sink as they load — so a forklift cannot just drive across. The leveler ramps to absorb that difference and gives a continuous, supported surface from dock to trailer.
The structure is simple. The Deck / Platform is a ribbed steel platform hinged at its rear edge to a Pit Frame grouted into the concrete pit. Because it pivots at the back, raising or lowering its front edge tilts the whole driveable surface to match the trailer. At the very front, the Lip Assembly is a hinged steel flap that swings out and lands on the trailer bed, closing the last gap. The deck and lip together form the run-on bridge, and dock Dock Bumper blocks on the building face take the impact each time a trailer reverses in.
How it works
Motion is hydraulic on the common variant. The Hydraulic Power Unit is a small power pack: a Pump Motor spins a gear pump that pressurises oil and sends it through a valve manifold to the Lift Cylinder. The cylinder extends and lifts the deck; when the operator releases the button, a controlled orifice lets the deck settle under its own weight, and a velocity fuse in the manifold traps it instantly if a hydraulic line bursts. Spring-assisted models swap the cylinder for a Return Spring Set counterbalance and a walk-down cycle, but the geometry is the same.
The operator runs the whole sequence from the Control Box, a wall enclosure whose MCU sequences raise, lip-extend and lower from a hold-to-run Push-Button Station and an emergency stop, switching the pump motor and valves through relays. To work safely in the pit, a Maintenance Strut folds out and props the raised deck mechanically, so service never depends on holding hydraulic pressure.
