Raclette Grill Product

Overview

A raclette grill is a communal table appliance that cooks and melts cheese in individual pans while simultaneously grilling meat and vegetables on an upper surface. The device has two cooking zones: the upper Grill Plate (400 × 250 mm, 180–200 °C) where diners place sliced meats, mushrooms, or peppers to cook, and below it, eight individual Cheese Pans (100 × 80 mm each) resting on a Pan Holder Frame frame, where portions of raclette cheese melt at 150–180 °C. A single Heating Element (1200 W) warms both zones. Diners sit around the table, use the grill top to cook their proteins, and simultaneously melt cheese in their personal pan below. Once cheese is melted and creamy, they scrape it onto a potato or bread plate with a small spatula. The Temperature Control with a Temperature Dial (1–6 setting) keeps both zones at the correct temperature. A Stainless Collection Pan at the bottom collects all drippings.

The design is inherently social: multiple people grill and melt cheese side-by-side, taking turns accessing the grill and removing hot cheese pans. The Stainless Frame and Thermal Insulation Liner keep the exterior relatively cool, while the internal Heating Chamber Shroud and Heat Reflector Shield concentrate heat onto the cheese pans via radiant and conduction paths.

How it works

Setup. The operator places the raclette grill on a sturdy table, typically in the center so multiple diners can access both the grill top and the cheese pans. They plug the Power Cord into a 230 V outlet. The Mains Plug has a 15 A thermal breaker for safety.

Preheat. The operator rotates the Temperature Dial to position "3" or "4" (medium heat, suitable for both grilling and cheese melting). They press the Power On/Off Switch. The Heating Element (1200 W) energizes, and the Heat Reflector Shield directs radiant heat upward. Heat also conducts through the Pan Support Grate supporting the Pan Holder Frame. As temperature climbs, the Bimetal Thermostat (bimetal) monitors the heating chamber. Once both the Grill Plate and the Cheese Pans reach the setpoint (≈170–180 °C for dial position 3–4), the Ready Indicator glows, indicating readiness.

Cheese loading. Each diner places a small wedge or slice (≈50–80 g) of raclette cheese into one of the Cheese Pans. The pans are positioned in the Pan Holder Frame frame at the lower heating zone. Each pan has a small wooden or metal Pan Handle allowing removal of hot pans.

Grilling. The first diner places a thin slice of cured meat (e.g., saucisson, prosciutto), a mushroom slice, or a small onion piece on the Grill Plate (upper surface). The grill top is now at 180–200 °C (for dial setting 3–4), hot enough to sear the meat in 30–60 seconds and soften the mushroom. The diner monitors their food, turning as needed.

Cheese melting (concurrent). While the first diner grills, their raclette cheese in the Cheese Pan below is simultaneously melting. The Heat Reflector Shield radiates heat up to the pan bottom; conduction through the Pan Support Grate adds warmth. After 2–3 minutes (depending on pan position and dial setting), the cheese is creamy and melted, with slight browning at the edges.

Scraping and eating. Once the meat is cooked and the cheese is melted, the diner carefully removes the hot Cheese Pan using the Pan Handle. Using a small wooden spatula (often provided), they scrape the melted cheese onto a hot potato, bread, or plate. The cheese and meat are eaten together. The now-empty pan is returned to the Pan Holder Frame for a fresh portion of cheese.

Rotation. Other diners repeat the cycle with their own meat and cheese pans. Multiple pans are typically melting in parallel (all 8 pans could be in use simultaneously). Each diner controls the timing of their grill item and cheese pan to coordinate eating.

Temperature adjustment. If cheese is not melting quickly enough (dial too low) or is browning too fast (dial too high), the operator rotates the Temperature Dial to a new position. The Bimetal Thermostat responds by increasing or decreasing duty cycle of the Heating Element via the Heater Relay. Changes take 1–2 minutes to become apparent.

Cleanup. At meal end, the operator turns off the Power On/Off Switch. The Stainless Collection Pan has collected grease and cheese overflow from the entire meal. They remove the pan (supported by Tray Support Rails rails), pull out the Disposable Foil Liner (disposable aluminum foil), and discard it. The pan is wiped clean and re-lined for the next use. The individual Cheese Pans are hand-washed once they cool.

All electrical connections are protected by a Thermal Fuse (15 A) at the heating element input. The Thermal Insulation Liner keeps the external frame warm but safe to touch. The Non-Slip Foot isolate vibration and provide grip on the table surface.
