Pallet Stretch Wrapper Product

Overview

A pallet stretch wrapper unitises a stacked load by spiralling stretch film around it from base to top, locking the cartons together so they ride safely on a truck or in a rack. The turntable type spins the pallet while the film is paid out from a fixed mast, which keeps the machine compact and the moving mass low. Stretching the film as it is applied is what makes it cling: pre-stretched film grips the load and uses far less plastic per pallet.

A forklift or pallet jack sets the load on the Turntable, the operator selects a wrap program at the Control Panel, and the machine runs the cycle unattended.

How it works

The Turntable sits on a large slewing ring driven by a gearmotor and chain, turning the pallet at a controlled speed. As it rotates, the Film Carriage feeds film through two geared pre-stretch rollers running at different surface speeds; the speed difference thins and lengthens the film several hundred percent, and a sprung dancer arm meters the tension delivered to the load so corners are not crushed or torn.

The Mast & Lift raises and lowers the carriage on a lift chain in step with the rotation, laying overlapping bands up the load and back down for a full spiral wrap, with extra turns at the base to tie the load to the pallet. Two Photo-eye Sensor sensors detect the top of the stack so the carriage reverses at the right height regardless of load size. When the program finishes, the turntable indexes to a home position and the operator cuts and tucks the film tail before removing the pallet.
