Ribbon Blender Product
Overview
A ribbon blender is the standard machine for combining dry powders and granules — spice blends, premixes, detergents, dry pharma formulations — into a uniform batch. Material sits in a horizontal half-cylinder trough, and a double-helical ribbon turning on a central shaft tumbles it back and forth until evenly mixed. The trick is the two opposed ribbons: the outer helix pushes product one way along the trough while the inner helix drives it the other way, so the whole batch folds over itself rather than just circulating.
The batch is held in the U-Trough, closed by an interlocked cover. The mixing element is the Ribbon Agitator, turned by the Drive Unit. Finished product drops through the Discharge Valve; ingredients enter and air escapes through the Inlet & Vent; and an MCU Control Panel sequences the cycle on a steel Support Frame.
How it works
The heart of the machine is the Ribbon Agitator. A heavy Agitator Shaft runs the length of the trough, and radial spokes carry two ribbon sets at different diameters. The large-diameter Outer Ribbon sweeps material along the trough wall in one direction; the smaller-diameter, opposite-hand Inner Ribbon moves it back through the centre. The result is a counter-current flow that blends a full batch in minutes with little shear, so fragile granules survive intact.
Power comes from the Drive Unit: the Drive Motor feeds a helical-bevel reducer, and a coupling turns the agitator shaft at the low speed the process needs. Where the shaft passes through each end plate, a Packing Seal keeps product in and contaminants out.
A batch starts by charging through the Charge Port while displaced air vents through the dust filter in the Inlet & Vent. The blender runs for a set time, then the Discharge Valve opens — its Valve Actuator strokes the gate — and the agitator sweeps the batch out through the bottom opening. Throughout, the Control Panel panel runs the timer, drives the motor and valve through relays, and holds the cover interlock so the agitator cannot turn with the trough open.
