Automatic Air Freshener Product

Overview

An automatic air freshener dispenser mists fragrance at preset intervals—typically 15 minutes to 8 hours apart—to maintain a fresh scent in restrooms, lobbies, and public spaces without human intervention. The device uses a battery-powered Timer Control Board that periodically triggers a Solenoid Valve, opening a passage through a pressurized Aerosol Cartridge and releasing a timed burst of mist. The system is common in airports, hospitals, office buildings, and retail stores because it provides consistent coverage, eliminates human error (forgetting to spray), and the refill cartridges are easy to change. The timer can be adjusted for high-traffic areas (one burst every 15 min) or low-traffic areas (one burst every 2 hours), with the cartridge lasting 2–4 weeks depending on frequency.

The Housing Assembly is a plastic wall-mount case with a sensor window and internal spray chamber. The Timer Control Board is a simple microcontroller or logic board running from two AA batteries, using a real-time clock to count intervals and trigger the solenoid coil at the set time. When triggered, the Solenoid Valve opens for ~200 milliseconds, allowing pressurized propellant from the Aerosol Cartridge to push a measured dose of fragrance through a metering nozzle. The cartridge is a standard aerosol can with a special valve insert that couples to the solenoid, and an internal dip tube drawing from the liquid reservoir so that each spray is consistent. The Battery Holder (two AA cells) provides 3V to the control board and solenoid coil.

How it works

A facility manager mounts the dispenser on a wall, loads fresh batteries, and inserts a fragrance cartridge by opening the Front Cover. The cartridge seats against the solenoid valve inlet, and the dispenser is ready. At the set interval—say, every 30 minutes—the timer counts down and triggers the solenoid coil, which pulls the plunger open for a fraction of a second. Propellant pressure forces a small squirt of liquid fragrance through the metering nozzle, which atomizes it into a mist that fills the room. The mist settles quickly, and the room smells fresh. No human operator is needed, making it ideal for 24/7 facilities. When the cartridge runs out (typically after 100–150 bursts, 2–4 weeks), the manager opens the cover, removes the empty cartridge, and snaps in a fresh one—a 10-second task. Battery life is typically 3–6 months before needing replacement. Some dispensers offer variable spray intensity, and high-end models have passive sensors to pause dispensing if the room is unoccupied, extending cartridge life. The fragrance chemistry can be odor-eating enzymatic formulas that neutralize odors chemically, or simple pleasant scents that mask them, depending on building and preference.
