Recliner Chair Product

Overview

The recliner chair is a lounge seat that tilts its backrest and raises a footrest so the occupant can move from upright sitting to a near-flat resting posture. Its structure is a Frame of kiln-dried hardwood reinforced with a welded-steel sub-frame, which carries the high loads the reclining motion puts into the seat box. A four-bar Reclining Mechanism couples the back tilt to the Footrest Extension so both move together, and the seat rides a Swivel/Rocker Base that swivels and rocks.

Comfort comes from a sprung Seat, a fiber-wrapped Backrest, and padded Armrest, all cut and sewn in leather or fabric. The chair is offered in a manual version, where a side handle releases the linkage, and a powered version that adds a Power Actuator and a Control Module handset.

How it works

In the manual chair, the occupant pulls the release handle on the Reclining Mechanism. That frees a ratchet, and the sitter's shifting weight drives the stamped-steel linkage: as the back tips rearward, the same set of riveted pivot pins pushes the Footrest Extension scissor arms forward and up. Two coil springs store energy during opening and help return the chair, while the ratchet lets the back lock at intermediate angles.

The powered chair replaces muscle effort with the Power Actuator. A brushed gearmotor — built from a shared Stator Assembly and Rotor Assembly — turns a Ball Screw inside a telescoping tube, converting rotation into a straight push that drives the same linkage. Limit switches stop the motor at full extend and retract. The Control Module board reads the wired handset and switches motor polarity to recline or return.

Throughout the travel, the Seat sinuous springs and high-resilience foam keep the seat compliant, and the Swivel/Rocker Base swivel bearing lets the whole chair turn while rocker springs allow a gentle glide before the footrest is deployed.
