Snow Blower

Overview

A two-stage snow blower clears deep, packed snow in two steps: a slow auger gathers and breaks up the snow and feeds it to a fast impeller that throws it out a directional chute. This model is self-propelled and petrol-powered, with both electric and recoil starting.

The OHV Engine Assembly is a 254 cc OHV petrol unit built around a Short Block. It starts on a button through a 120 V Electric Starter, with a Recoil Starter as manual backup. A float-bowl Carburetor with a primer bulb handles cold starts, and a flywheel-magneto ignition fires the spark plug.

How it works

The first stage is the Auger Assembly: counter-rotating helical flights scoop and break up snow and feed it inward to the centre. A right-angle Auger Gearbox drives the auger slowly off the impeller shaft, and sacrificial shear pins snap to protect the gearbox if the auger jams on a hidden object. The gathered snow reaches the second stage, the Impeller Assembly, a high-speed paddle fan that flings the snow up the chute.

The Discharge Chute Assembly aims the snow stream: a worm gear swivels the chute left and right from a dash crank, and a hinged deflector sets throw distance. All of this is enclosed in the Bucket & Housing, a welded steel housing with a replaceable scraper bar and adjustable skid shoes.

Construction

The Drive System takes engine power through a rubber friction disc that gives variable forward and reverse speeds, with belts driving the auger and a geared transmission turning the traction wheels. The operator works the Handle & Controls, whose squeeze levers engage the auger and drive clutches through Bowden cables. A Electrical System system powers the electric starter and an LED headlight.
