Wood Chipper Product

Overview

A wood chipper turns tree branches and yard prunings into small chips by feeding them into a fast-spinning disc fitted with knives. This model is a towable petrol-powered unit built around a heavy steel flywheel disc, sized to swallow branches up to about 76 mm thick. The operator pushes a limb into the hopper, the knives draw it in and slice it, and the chips are flung out a chute into a pile or bag.

The Petrol Engine is a 212 cc air-cooled overhead-valve petrol unit. A Recoil Starter spins the flywheel to crank it, a float-bowl Carburetor meters the fuel-air mixture, and the Spark Plug fires it. Power leaves the crankshaft through a V-belt to the cutting disc.

How it works

Cutting happens at the Chipper Disc Assembly. A thick Flywheel Disc carries two reversible Chipper Blade knives on its face. As the disc spins, each knife sweeps past a fixed Anvil (Shear Bar), and wood fed across that gap is sheared into chips the way a guillotine cuts paper. The disc's heavy rim stores rotational energy, so it carries the knives through knots and dense wood without stalling, then recovers speed between cuts. Paddles cast into the disc act as a fan, blowing the chips up the Discharge Chute.

The Belt Drive & Clutch connects engine to disc through a single Drive Belt and a centrifugal clutch, so the disc only turns once the engine is above idle. This lets the engine start and warm up with the blades stopped.

Construction

Branches enter through the Feed Hopper, a tapered funnel that aligns them to the disc. The whole machine sits on a welded Frame & Wheels with two pneumatic wheels and a tow hitch so it can be hauled behind a vehicle. Guarding is handled by the Safety Guard: rubber flaps over the hopper mouth block kickback, and a heavy shroud encloses the disc. The disc shaft runs on sealed Ball Bearing supports, and the assembly is bolted together with a common Fastener Set.
