Beard Trimmer Product
Overview
The beard trimmer is a cordless, rechargeable grooming appliance for cutting and shaping facial hair to a chosen length. A stainless blade set shears hair between a fixed lower blade and a reciprocating upper blade, while a sliding guide comb sets how far the hair stands above the blade before it is cut. A single Li-ion cell powers the motor, so the tool runs untethered and recharges over USB-C.
The blade set rides on the Blade Assembly, which carries the drive lever and a tension spring that keeps the moving blade pressed against the fixed blade. The Adjustable Guide Comb clips over the blades and, through its rotary length dial, raises or lowers the comb in fine steps to select the cut length. The Body Shell is a two-shell handle with a rubber grip that holds the motor, board and battery.
How it works
Pressing the power button signals the Control Board, whose microcontroller switches power to the DC Motor. The motor is a brushed DC unit; its rotation is converted by an eccentric pin into rapid linear oscillation, which the drive lever transmits to the moving blade. The moving blade slides side to side across the fixed blade, and hair entering the gap between their teeth is sheared off where the teeth cross.
Cut length is set mechanically. The guide comb holds the hair a fixed distance off the skin, and turning the length dial slides the comb up or down in stepped detents, so each setting presents a different stand-off height to the blades. With the comb removed, the trimmer cuts close for outlining and edge work.
Energy is stored in the Battery Pack, a single Li-ion cell with a protection board guarding against over-discharge and over-current. The control board's charge management IC handles charging from the USB Charge Port, which feeds 5 V from a USB-C jack. An LED on the board reports charge state and low battery, and the motor speed is held steady as the cell drains so cutting power stays consistent through the run.
