Hair Dryer

Overview

The hair dryer blows heated air over the hair to evaporate moisture. This model uses a compact high-speed brushless motor in the handle rather than a large barrel-mounted fan, which shifts weight toward the hand and raises airflow. An ionizer adds negative ions to the stream to reduce static and frizz, and attachments lock on with a magnetic ring.

Air is drawn through the Housing inlet, accelerated by the High-Speed Brushless Motor, heated by the Heating Assembly assembly, and shaped by the Magnetic Nozzle Ring at the front.

How it works

The High-Speed Brushless Motor is a brushless DC unit spinning an axial impeller at very high speed, on the order of 110,000 rpm. A dedicated motor controller board commutates the windings electronically. The impeller pulls air through the inlet filter and mesh, which keep lint and hair out of the rotor.

The fast-moving air passes over the Heating Assembly assembly, a resistive coil wound on a mica former. The Controls select heat and speed and include a cold-shot button that cuts the heater to set a style with cool air. Two thermistors monitor the coil and outlet temperature, and a thermal fuse cuts power permanently if the airflow is blocked and the heater overheats.

The Ionizer sits in the airstream: an ion generator drives an emitter needle that sheds negative ions into the exiting air. Mains power enters through the Power Cord with its strain relief and plug.

At the outlet, the magnetic nozzle ring holds neodymium magnets that snap on a concentrator attachment, letting the user direct airflow precisely without a mechanical latch.
