Electric Shaver

Overview

The electric shaver is a rechargeable foil-type dry/wet shaving appliance. A pivoting triple-foil head presses against the skin while three oscillating inner cutters sweep beneath the perforated foils, catching and severing hair at the foil surface. Power comes from a single-cell Li-ion pack housed in a sealed, fully washable body.

The head is mounted on the Foil Shaving Head cassette, which carries the foils and inner cutters. A separate Pop-up Trimmer pops up from the rear for sideburns and longer hair. The Body Housing is sealed against water for rinsing under a tap.

How it works

Pressing the power button signals the Control Board, whose microcontroller drives the Oscillating Drive Motor. The drive is a compact DC motor whose rotation is converted by an eccentric cam and linkage into rapid linear oscillation, roughly 10,000 strokes per minute. That motion is transmitted to the inner cutters, which slide back and forth against the stationary foils.

Each foil is a thin perforated stainless sheet; hair enters the perforations and is sheared off by the moving cutter teeth pressed against the foil from inside by pressure springs. The floating head pivots to follow facial contours, keeping the foils flat against the skin.

Energy is stored in the Battery Pack, a single Li-ion cell with a protection board. The control board's charge controller manages charging from the Charging Stand, which feeds 5 V over pogo contacts from a USB-C input. An LED indicator reports charge state and low battery.

Because the device is rated for wet use, the housing seals around the button and seams with O-rings, allowing the head to be rinsed and the supplied cleaning brush to clear cut hair from the cutter frame.
