Electric Nail Drill Product

Overview

An electric nail drill, or e-file, is a rotary tool used in manicures and pedicures to shape natural nails and to remove gel, acrylic and hard skin faster than hand filing. This is the cordless desktop variety: a weighted Control Box sets the speed and powers a slim pen-style Handpiece over a flexible cable. The cutting end is a swappable bit held in a keyless chuck, so one tool covers everything from bulk product removal to fine cuticle work.

The control box runs from an internal pack rather than mains, so the unit is portable and quiet. The operator dials in a speed, picks forward or reverse, and either holds the run button or works hands-free through the optional Foot Pedal.

How it works

Drive comes from the Brushless Micromotor, a compact brushless DC motor built into the handpiece. Putting the motor in the handpiece — rather than driving a flexible shaft from the base — keeps it light, low-vibration and able to hold speed under load. The motor's stator windings are commutated electronically; a Hall sensor reports rotor position so the Control Board can switch the windings in the right sequence.

That control board is the brain of the box. Its microcontroller reads the Speed Knob and the forward/reverse selection from the button panel, then drives a six-transistor inverter that feeds the motor's three phases. Varying the switching duty sets the spindle anywhere from a crawl up to about 30,000 rpm, while the reverse setting flips the phase order so left- and right-handed technicians can work comfortably. An LCD reports the live RPM and remaining battery.

Bits mount in the Twist-Lock Chuck, a twist-lock collet that grips a standard 3/32-inch shank with a quick turn of the sleeve — no key needed. The Bit Set supplies the working ends: disposable sanding bands on a mandrel for fast surface removal, fluted carbide bits for bulk gel and acrylic, and diamond-grit bits for gentle cuticle and sidewall detailing.

Energy is stored in the Battery Pack, a two-cell Li-ion pack with a protection board, and the board's charge controller refills it from a USB-C input. Because the motor sits in the hand and only low-voltage power and sensor lines run down the cable, the handpiece stays cool and balanced through long sessions.
