Electric Drain Auger Product
Overview
An electric drain auger clears blocked sinks, tubs, floor drains and sewer laterals by spinning a flexible steel cable down the pipe so a cutting head can shear through grease, scale and roots. The electric-drain-auger-drive-motor turns the electric-drain-auger-drum-feed, a rotating drum that stores the coiled cable and spins it while a power feed drives the cable forward and back.
The working tool is the electric-drain-auger-cable-set: a tightly wound spring cable tipped with interchangeable heads sized for the blockage. A leader or bulb head finds and pulls through the stoppage, a bladed cutter removes soft debris, and a saw-tooth root head cuts intruding tree roots. The operator runs the machine hands-free through the electric-drain-auger-foot-switch, keeping both hands on the cable. The whole machine rides on the electric-drain-auger-frame, and the electric-drain-auger-cord carries a ground-fault interrupter required for wet-location work.
How it works
The motor drives the drum through a belt and a friction slip clutch. As the drum spins, the cable inside rotates and transmits torque around bends to the cutting head. The power feed grips the spinning cable between angled rollers; tilting the electric-drain-auger-feed-lever one way advances the cable into the drain and the other way retracts it, so the operator controls penetration without touching the bare cable near the drum.
When the head meets a blockage it cuts as the cable spins. If the head snags hard enough to stall, the electric-drain-auger-clutch slips and the motor's thermal overload trips, protecting both the operator's wrists and the cable from a sudden torque reaction. The pneumatic electric-drain-auger-foot-switch energizes the motor only while the pedal is held, so releasing it stops rotation instantly.
Power comes through the electric-drain-auger-gfci in the cord, which trips on leakage current to guard against shock in the wet environment of a drain. The Wire Bundle and Connector carry that power to the motor. After the line runs clear, the operator reverses the feed to wind the cable back onto the drum and wheels the machine to the next job on its frame and transport wheels.
