Pneumatic Nail Gun

Overview

A pneumatic nail gun drives collated nails into wood using compressed air. Each trigger cycle releases a burst of air above a piston, which slams a driver blade down to drive a nail flush in a single stroke; the magazine then advances the next nail into position. This is a framing nailer, built for structural work and sized for nails up to about 90 mm, with a magnesium body to keep weight down under repeated heavy driving.

Air enters through the Air System, where a quick-connect inlet feeds a reservoir and the valving that controls firing. Pulling the Trigger Assembly (with the Contact Trip Safety pressed to the work) opens a trigger valve, which dumps the head valve and admits air above the Driver Mechanism. The piston and driver blade fire down, and the spent air vents through an adjustable exhaust.

How it works

The Magazine Assembly holds a strip of collated nails and pushes them toward the nose with a spring-loaded feeder, presenting one fastener under the driver blade for each cycle. The Nose Piece guides the nail into the work and carries a no-mar tip that protects finished surfaces. After the piston bottoms, a resilient bumper absorbs the residual energy and helps return the piston to the top of the Driver Mechanism cylinder, ready for the next shot.

Safety is enforced by the Contact Trip Safety: a spring-loaded contact arm at the nose must be depressed against the workpiece before the tool can fire, preventing accidental discharge into open air. A depth-adjust wheel sets how far proud or flush the nail seats. Internal O-rings and the seal kit keep the air chambers tight; worn seals are the usual cause of weak driving or air leaks.
