Veterinary Anesthesia Machine Product
Overview
A veterinary anaesthesia machine keeps an animal unconscious and breathing safely through surgery by delivering a precise mix of oxygen and a vaporised anaesthetic agent, then recycling the animal's breath through a CO2 scrubber so most of the expensive gas is reused. It serves everything from a cat to a horse, so flowmeters, bags and circuits are sized for a wide weight range.
Gas enters through the Gas Supply & Regulation, where regulators drop cylinder pressure to a steady working level and the Flowmeter sets how much fresh oxygen flows. That stream passes through the Agent Vaporiser, which diverts part of it across liquid agent and rejoins it to deliver an exact percentage. The dosed gas then circulates through the Breathing Circuit & Absorber, whose CO2 Absorber Canister removes exhaled carbon dioxide so the rest can be rebreathed. The Bellows Ventilator can drive each breath mechanically, the Scavenging System system carries waste gas away from the staff, and the Patient Monitor watches the patient. It all rides on the Cart & Connectors.
Because the same circuit carries fresh and exhaled gas, one-way valves and CO2 absorption are what make rebreathing safe rather than a slow suffocation.
How it works
Oxygen from a cylinder hits the Pressure Regulator, which holds a constant supply pressure regardless of how full the tank is; the Flowmeter then meters the fresh-gas flow, and a Pressure Sensor plus the pneumatic Oxygen-Failure Alarm guard against a supply failure. The metered flow reaches the Agent Vaporiser: its Concentration Dial sets a splitting ratio that sends a fraction of the gas through the wicked Vaporising Chamber to pick up agent, while the Temperature Compensator adjusts that split as the liquid cools so the delivered percentage stays accurate. A keyed Keyed Fill Port makes it hard to load the wrong drug.
The dosed gas enters the Breathing Circuit & Absorber as a circle: the One-Way Valve pair forces it past the patient in one direction so inhaled and exhaled gas never mix, the CO2 Absorber Canister scrubs the carbon dioxide with colour-changing soda lime, and the Reservoir Bag buffers each breath. The APL Valve caps circuit pressure and bleeds the surplus, which is exactly the gas the Scavenging System system collects so the surgical team does not breathe stray anaesthetic.
When the patient is paralysed or too small to breathe well alone, the Bellows Ventilator takes over: the Bellows Drive Motor pressurises the housing around the Ventilator Bellows to push a set tidal volume into the circuit, timed by the Ventilator Control Board against an airway Pressure Sensor. Throughout, the Monitor Main Board tracks oxygen saturation, ECG, capnography and airway pressure on the Monitor Touchscreen so the anaesthetist sees trouble early.
