Dental Autoclave (Class B) Product
Overview
A Class B dental autoclave is the benchtop steam sterilizer that turns used, cleaned instruments back into a sterile, wrapped, ready-to-use state between patients. "Class B" is the demanding tier of the EN 13060 standard: it must sterilize hollow and porous loads inside pouches and cassettes, which only works if every pocket of trapped air is removed before steam is admitted. That is why this machine pulls a fractionated pre-vacuum rather than simply boiling water.
The load goes onto the Trays & Loading Rack and slides into the Chamber & Door Assembly, a machined stainless chamber sealed by a silicone gasket and a Motorised Locking Mechanism whose pins cannot release while the chamber holds pressure. The Steam Generator flashes distilled water from the clean side of the Water & Waste Reservoirs into saturated steam, and the Vacuum & Air System alternately evacuates and floods the chamber so steam reaches every surface. The Control System runs the validated cycle and the Cycle Log Printer prints the time, temperature and pressure trace the practice keeps as proof of sterilization.
Saturated steam carries far more lethal energy to microorganisms than dry heat at the same temperature, which is why a held 134 °C steam exposure of a few minutes does what a much hotter dry oven cannot.
How it works
A cycle begins once the Motorised Locking Mechanism confirms its pins are driven and the Pressure Safety Interlock is set. The Vacuum Pump inside the Vacuum & Air System pulls the first vacuum, then the Steam Generator admits steam; this evacuate-and-fill sequence repeats for three fractionated pulses so air cannot insulate the inside of a hollow instrument or a sealed pouch. The boiler draws only distilled water that the Conductivity Cell cell has checked, keeping scale off the elements and chamber.
The Valves & Sensors block does the plumbing: relay-switched solenoid valves route water and steam between the boiler, chamber and the waste side of the Water & Waste Reservoirs, while a Pressure Sensor and chamber RTDs report the true conditions back to the controller. When the chamber reaches 134 °C and the matching pressure, the Main Controller Board holds the sterilization plateau for the validated time, graphing it live on the Touchscreen Panel. A mechanical Safety Relief Valve caps pressure independent of the software.
Drying is where Class B earns its name: after exposure the vacuum pump pulls the chamber down again so residual moisture boils off the load at low pressure, and the Air Pump finally admits air through the Sterile Air Filter to break the vacuum without recontaminating the instruments. The printer logs the whole run.
