Vibration Plate

Overview

A vibration plate is a platform that oscillates rapidly underfoot, forcing the muscles into reflexive contractions many times per second. A user stands, holds a static pose, or performs slow movements on the deck while it shakes, which raises muscle activation and circulation for a given effort. This unit uses the pivotal/oscillating mode, where the plate seesaws about a central axis rather than moving straight up and down.

The product is a Housing of vibrating top deck and base shell. Inside, the Oscillation Mechanism generates the motion, the Suspension & Isolation suspension lets the deck move while sparing the base, and a Motor Controller drives the motor. The user sets programs on the Control Panel or the Remote Control, and a Resistance Kit adds upper- body work.

How it works

Vibration originates in the Oscillation Mechanism. A brushed DC motor turns a cam shaft through a belt, and eccentric weights clamped to that shaft make it spin off-balance. Running on ball bearings, the unbalanced shaft throws the top plate up and down at one side and down and up at the other, producing the pivotal oscillation; how far the weights are offset sets the amplitude, and motor speed sets the 5–40 Hz frequency.

The Suspension & Isolation system, four coil springs and rubber mounts between deck and base, lets the top plate oscillate freely while damping what reaches the floor. The Motor Controller PWM-switches the motor through MOSFETs to hold the selected level, taking commands from the membrane Control Panel or the wireless Remote Control. Power is conditioned by the Power Supply AC-DC brick, and rubber feet keep the base planted.
