Dehumidifier Product

Overview

A dehumidifier pulls water out of room air to hold humidity at a comfortable, mold-resistant level. This is a refrigerant model: it chills a cold surface below the dew point so moisture condenses out, the same physics that fogs a cold drink on a humid day. Damp air enters through the Air Filter in the back grille, passes over two coils inside the Refrigeration System loop, and leaves warmer and drier through the front of the Housing & Cabinet.

The whole unit lives in a molded cabinet that rolls on four casters so it can be moved between rooms. The Blower Assembly sets the airflow, the Water Collection System system catches what is wrung out of the air, and the Control Board decides when to run based on what the humidity sensor reads against the target on the touch panel.

Water collects in a removable bucket with a level window, and a float trips the unit off before it overflows. For unattended operation a hose connects to the drain port, and the built-in pump lets it drain upward into a sink rather than relying on gravity.

How it works

The Rotary Compressor is a hermetic rotary unit that pressurizes refrigerant vapor and pushes it through the Condenser Coil, where it dumps heat and condenses to a warm liquid. That liquid passes through the Filter Drier and then the Capillary Tube, a fixed restrictor that drops its pressure. On the low-pressure side the refrigerant boils inside the Evaporator Coil, chilling its fins well below the dew point.

Room air drawn across that cold coil gives up moisture, which beads up and runs into the drip tray and down to the tank. The now-cool, dry air then crosses the warm condenser coil on its way out, so the exhaust is a few degrees warmer than the room. Because the cold coil ices up in cool conditions, the defrost control pauses the compressor and lets the fan melt the frost before resuming.

A capacitive Humidity Sensor feeds the microcontroller, which cycles the compressor relay to hold the setpoint and idles once the room is dry enough. The display shows current humidity and mode, and the same board drives the fan motor and the condensate pump.
