Portable Air Conditioner Product

Overview

A portable air conditioner is a self-contained cooler on wheels. Unlike a split or window unit, the whole refrigeration loop sits inside the room and only a flexible duct reaches the window, so it can be rolled wherever it is needed and stored in a closet off-season. The trade-off is that it has to vent its waste heat through a single hose, which slightly lowers efficiency compared with a fixed install.

The machine lives in a molded Housing & Casters riding on four casters. Room air is drawn in, chilled, and blown back out the top by the Blower Motor. The heat picked up by the refrigerant — plus the heat the compressor itself makes — leaves through the Exhaust Kit, whose adjustable panel seals the window so hot air does not leak back in. Water wrung out of the air is dealt with by the Condensate System system, and the whole unit is run by a Control Panel panel with a touch display.

How it works

The Rotary Compressor pressurizes refrigerant vapor and sends it to the Condenser Coil, where it sheds heat and condenses. A capillary restrictor drops the pressure, and the refrigerant then boils in the Evaporator Coil, chilling the indoor air stream. The R32 Refrigerant Charge cycles continuously between the two coils while the compressor runs.

Because both coils are indoors, the unit has two air paths through one cabinet: a cooling loop that recirculates room air past the cold coil, and a hot loop that pulls separate air across the condenser and dumps it out the hose. Condensate from the cold coil collects in the Condensate System tray; a float-triggered pump lifts it and sprays it onto the hot condenser, where it evaporates and exits with the exhaust — so most models never need manual draining. The Control Panel board reads room and coil temperatures, cycles the compressor relay to hold the setpoint, and shows mode and target on the LCD behind the touch panel.
