Overview

A wireless gaming mouse is a handheld pointing device that converts hand motion into on-screen cursor movement by imaging the surface beneath it thousands of times per second. This model tracks with a high-resolution optical sensor, communicates over a low-latency 2.4 GHz link, and runs from a rechargeable cell so no cord is required. A wired USB-C mode is retained for charging and for play that demands a physical tether.

The device is built around a molded Shell Assembly that the hand grips and that carries the click panels. Inside, the Mainboard hosts the microcontroller, the 2.4 GHz radio, and the USB-C port. Pointer motion is read by the Optical Sensor Assembly, primary and side inputs by the Switch Set, and scrolling by the Scroll Wheel Assembly. Power comes from the Battery Pack, accent lighting from the RGB Lighting Assembly, and the bundled Wireless USB Dongle provides the receiver that pairs to the host.

How it works

The optical sensor illuminates the surface with an LED or laser diode and images the reflected texture with a small camera. Successive frames are cross-correlated to compute displacement, which the sensor reports as delta-X and delta-Y counts. Resolution is set in DPI: at 1,600 DPI the cursor moves 1,600 counts per inch of physical travel. The Sensor Lens focuses the surface onto the imager at the correct standoff height.

The mainboard's microcontroller reads sensor deltas, debounces the Micro-Switch contacts, and decodes the scroll Rotary Encoder, then packetizes button, motion, and wheel state. In wireless mode these packets are transmitted at a 1,000 Hz polling rate to the dongle, which enumerates to the PC as a standard HID mouse. The Li-po cell is managed by a charge IC and protection board; the four PTFE PTFE Foot minimize sliding friction, and a removable Tuning Weight tunes the inertial feel.
