Laptop

Overview

A laptop is a complete personal computer folded into a hinged clamshell, integrating the display, keyboard, pointing device, battery, and full computing hardware into a single portable unit. This model is a thin-and-light notebook with an aluminium body, a soldered system-on-chip, and an OLED panel. Integration is the governing constraint: where a desktop spreads components across a large case, a laptop packs equivalent function into a sealed 15 mm body, trading upgradeability for portability and battery life.

The lower half is built on the Chassis, a machined aluminium top and bottom case that forms the structure and acts as a heatsink. Bolted inside is the Mainboard, the logic board carrying the SoC, unified memory, and storage. The SoC fuses CPU, GPU, and a neural engine on one package, and its on-package memory keeps the board small and power-efficient.

Construction

The upper half is the Display Assembly, a thin lid holding the OLED panel and the laptop-webcam-class camera with IR sensing. The hinge routes a flex cable carrying video and camera signals down to the mainboard.

User input comes from the Keyboard Assembly, a backlit deck of scissor-switch keys, and the Trackpad, a glass force-touch surface that senses click pressure rather than physically depressing. The Fingerprint Reader sits in the power button for instant unlock.

Portability depends on the Battery Pack, a flat 4-cell lithium-polymer pack that fills the floor of the case for the largest capacity the volume allows. Sustained performance depends on the Thermal Module, a dual-fan heat-pipe cooler that draws heat off the SoC and vents it through the hinge. Audio plays through stereo Speaker units, voice is captured by the Microphone Array, and external devices connect via the IO Board. The whole machine charges from a compact Power Adapter over USB-C.
