Spring Check Valve Poppet
AssemblyA spring-poppet check mechanism moves its closure along the flow axis instead of swinging it around a hinge. In this check-valve example, forward pressure lifts the poppet disc against the closing spring. The guide keeps the disc aligned during its travel back toward the seat. The spring assists closure as the forward-flow force falls.
Short travel and spring assistance distinguish this arrangement from the hinged disc assembly. Val-Matic describes those features in its silent check-valve overview, where the design aims to close before substantial reverse flow develops. That is the engineering reason for the mechanism, rather than simply making the valve sound quieter.
Fast closure still has to be considered alongside flow resistance and service conditions. The manufacturer's overview identifies clean-water duty for its listed silent-check family and directs other applications to the manufacturer. A similarly shaped generic poppet is not enough to establish suitability for dirty water, viscous fluids, or a particular pressure transient.
This BOM explains the disc, spring, and guide relationship; it does not provide a spring specification or certify non-slam performance. Opening pressure, flow capacity, materials, and allowable installation orientation belong to the exact valve model. The poppet and hinged-disc entries represent alternative closure concepts, not a requirement to install two different mechanisms in the same valve body.
