Rear-Door Fan Unit

Assembly

Overview

The rear-door fan unit provides active heat removal for densely loaded racks where passive perforated doors cannot move enough air. It mounts in the rear door and pulls server exhaust out of the cabinet.

How it works

Six Blower Motor EC fan modules draw the hot air leaving the servers and expel it toward the hot aisle, lowering the pressure behind the equipment so more cold air is drawn through the front. A Fan Controller board reads rack temperature and modulates fan speed with PWM, running quietly at light load and ramping only when heat demands it, which saves energy versus fixed-speed fans. A dedicated Power Supply feeds the unit independently of the IT load, and a Wire Bundle harness distributes power and tachometer signals to each fan.
