Overview

The mainboard concentrates the router's entire electronics, processor, three radios, wired switch and memory, onto a single printed-circuit assembly.

Construction

The board centers on a Compute SoC Module, a quad-core network processor that runs the firmware and packet path, supported by DDR4 SDRAM working memory and a NAND Flash holding the firmware image. Three Wi-Fi Radio Front-End Module front-end modules, one per band, each combine an RF Power Amplifier amplifier and an RF Bandpass Filter to clean and boost the transmit signal. Wired traffic flows through the 2.5GbE Switch IC and a Ethernet PHY. Because the radios are sensitive to interference, EMI Shield Can enclosures isolate the RF sections, and an Aluminum Heatsink coupled through thermal pads keeps the SoC within temperature under sustained load.
