Wind Turbine Control and Condition Monitoring
AssemblyControl and condition monitoring connect the operating equipment inside a wind turbine nacelle with the measurements used to run and assess the turbine. The turbine controller handles operating logic, while the anemometer and wind vane represent wind inputs. The Department of Energy's wind cybersecurity roadmap distinguishes turbine field controllers, physical sensors and actuators, and plant-level SCADA systems. These are connected layers, not a single interchangeable control box. Turbine control architecture.
Condition monitoring answers a different question from an immediate operating command. The vibration sensors provide signals for evaluating machinery behavior, but a sensor alone does not diagnose a damaged bearing. Bachmann's drivetrain monitoring offering includes sensor inputs, acquisition hardware, processing software and reporting tools, illustrating the full measurement-to-analysis chain. Drivetrain monitoring components.
Monitoring may be integrated with the controller, yet its scope still matters. Bachmann distinguishes drivetrain, blade and structural monitoring and describes combining them into a broader health-and-usage view. This BOM's nacelle sensors do not imply that blade or tower monitoring is installed. Monitoring scope.
The listed connectors, circuit boards and display are generic implementation groups. They do not establish an I/O count, fieldbus protocol, alarm threshold, safety integrity level or cybersecurity configuration. A deployable control system requires the exact turbine's signal list, software, protection logic and commissioning evidence; this article only explains the hardware and functional boundaries.
