Overview

A foosball table is a scaled-down game of football played by spinning and sliding rods. The Cabinet frames a flat Playing Field, and eight Player Rod rods pass through the side rails, each carrying a row of Molded Player figures. Players twist and shove the rods to make the figures kick the ball toward the opponent's goal; a scored ball drops into the Ball Return and rolls out to a serve cup for the next point. Four Cabinet Leg legs hold the table at playing height, and Score Counter bead markers track the score.

How it works

The eight rods are interleaved so each side controls four rows — goalkeeper, two defenders, five midfielders, three forwards — and the two players' rods alternate down the table so they can never collide. Each Player Rod runs in two Ball Bearing supports set into the Side Rail, which let it both slide along its axis and spin freely; a Handle on the outer end gives the grip. The figures are pinned to the rod so a flick of the wrist swings a foot through the ball. At each end of a rod, a Coil Spring backs a Bumper Cap cap that absorbs the shock when the rod is shoved hard against the cabinet, protecting both the wall and the player's hand.

The Field Bed is a hard laminate so the ball rolls fast and true, and the sloped Side Wall keeps it in play and gives predictable rebounds. When the ball passes a Goal, it falls through and the under-field Return Channel and Return Ramp carry it to a Serve Cup on the cabinet end, so play resumes without anyone reaching into the box. Because aggressive play loads the frame, the corners are tied together with Corner Block reinforcements and the Leveling Foot feet take out floor wobble that would otherwise make the ball drift.
