Blender

Product

Overview

A countertop blender pairs a heavy, weighted base with a tall jar so it can liquefy ice, fibrous produce and frozen fruit without walking across the counter. Nearly all of the mass and the working machinery live in the Motor Base, while the Jar Assembly holds the food and the Blade Assembly does the cutting.

How it works

The heart of the machine is the High-Power Universal Motor, a roughly 1500 W series-wound universal motor chosen for its high speed and torque-at-stall. Its shaft drives a clutch coupling at the top of the base. When the jar is seated, that coupling mates with a splined drive socket on the blade unit, transmitting torque up into the jar while keeping the wet food path completely separate from the motor.

Inside the jar assembly the blade rides on a sealed, bearing-supported shaft. A lip seal and gasket keep liquid out of the bearing, and a threaded collar clamps the blade base to the Tritan vessel. Spun at over twenty thousand rpm, the blunt stainless blades create a vortex that pulls ingredients down from the top; a tamper inserted through the lid's center cap pushes thick mixtures back into the cutting zone.

Speed is set on the Control Panel, where a microcontroller reads a variable speed dial and preset buttons and drives the motor through phase-angle control, showing program and countdown on an LCD. Because a universal motor runs hot at full load, a shaft-mounted cooling fan pulls air across the windings and a Thermal Cutoff interrupts power if the motor overheats. Mains current arrives through the grounded Power Cord, and suction-style rubber feet keep the base planted while the blades pulse.
