Waffle Maker

Overview

A rotating waffle maker bakes deep-pocket Belgian waffles between two hot, non-stick grids, and flips 180° partway through so batter coats both plates evenly for a uniform rise and crust. The clamshell mounts in the Housing, hinged so the upper and lower plates close together over the batter.

How it works

Both Upper Cooking Plate and Lower Cooking Plate are cast-aluminium grids with tubular heating elements cast directly into their backs, so the metal heats fast and holds an even temperature across the deep pockets. A non-stick coating releases the baked waffle, and a thermostat, a bimetal or NTC sensor on the plate, cycles the elements to hold the baking temperature set on the control.

Batter is poured onto the lower grid and the lid is brought down and held by the Closure Latch, an over-centre closure that keeps the plates pressed together as the rising waffle pushes back. The defining feature is the Rotation Mechanism: a locking bearing in the housing lets the whole closed unit be flipped a half turn on its handle, sending batter across the upper plate so both faces brown identically.

Cooking is sequenced by the Control Module, a browning dial and indicator lights that signal when the plates are preheated and when the waffle is done. Mains power enters through the Power Cord and is distributed to the two plate elements by the internal Wiring Harness. The grids are wired across the flip joint so they stay powered through rotation, and rubber feet keep the hot appliance stable on the counter.
