Electric Multicooker

Product

Overview

An electric multicooker is a countertop pot that cooks under steam pressure, holds food at a low simmer for slow cooking, and browns it directly on a hot plate. One Heating Element and one removable Inner Cooking Pot cover all three jobs; the difference between modes is how hot the base runs and whether the lid is sealed. A 6 litre unit draws about 1000 W and reaches a working pressure of 70 to 90 kPa above atmosphere, which raises the boiling point of water to roughly 115 to 118 C and cuts cook times for beans, grains, and tough cuts of meat by more than half.

The machine breaks into eight subsystems: the Lid Assembly that seals and vents the pot, the Inner Cooking Pot that holds the food, the Heating Base that supplies heat, the Control Panel that runs the programs, the Pressure Safety System that limits pressure, the Power Module that conditions mains power, the Outer Housing that wraps it, and the Accessory Set shipped inside.

How it works

The inner pot sits in a well in the Base Housing, resting on the Heating Plate. The heating element is cast into that aluminium plate, so heat spreads across the pot base rather than concentrating at one spot. A spring-loaded Pot Temperature Sensor presses against the centre of the pot and reports its temperature to the Control Board.

To pressure cook, the user closes the Lid Assembly and turns the Lid Latch Mechanism, a bayonet ring that hooks tabs on the pot rim. The Silicone Sealing Ring, a silicone gasket rated to 250 C, makes the pot airtight. As water boils, steam raises the internal pressure; the Float Valve rises with that pressure and mechanically blocks the latch so the lid cannot be opened while the pot is under load. The Pressure Release Valve stays shut during the cook and is turned by hand to vent steam at the end, or the unit is left to drop pressure on its own. The Anti-Block Shield keeps food debris from clogging the steam port that feeds the float valve.

Heating and modes

In pressure mode the Control Board cycles the heater to hold the pot near 115 C once the Pressure Switch confirms the setpoint, then counts down the program timer only after pressure is reached. Slow cooking skips the seal and holds the plate between 70 and 95 C for several hours. Saute mode runs the plate up to about 160 C with the lid off so the user can brown meat or soften onions before pressure cooking in the same pot. A keep-warm step drops the target to roughly 65 C. Switching among these modes is a change in target temperature and lid state, not a change in hardware, which is why one Heating Element serves all of them.

Safety system

Pressure cooking is governed by three layers that do not depend on the cook program running correctly. First, an electronic Pressure Sensor gives the board a continuous pressure reading. Second, a mechanical Pressure Switch opens the heater circuit directly when internal pressure reaches about 90 kPa, independent of the firmware. Third, the Overpressure Relief Valve is a spring poppet that blows off near 110 kPa if both earlier layers fail. The Float Valve adds the interlock that keeps the lid locked while pressure remains, and the Thermal Cutoff in the base opens permanently if the dry plate passes 170 C, which protects the unit if it is run empty. The Lid Position Switch confirms the lid is locked before the board will start a pressure program.

Materials and construction

The Stainless Pot Body is deep-drawn 304 stainless steel with an aluminium-clad tri-ply base for even heat; coated variants add a PTFE Nonstick Coating on the inner surface. The Base Housing is glass-filled nylon, chosen because it holds shape against the heat radiating off the plate. The Housing Shell is brushed stainless over the well and electronics, closed underneath by a vented ABS Base Plate that routes the cord exit. Mains power enters through the Power Module, where a Line Fuse and a 10 A appliance inlet feed both the heater relay and a low-voltage Power Supply for the logic.

Using it

The Control Panel carries a segment LCD Panel behind a capacitive Button Membrane, with a Buzzer for keypress and end-of-cook tones. Shipped inside the pot are a stainless Steam Rack for steaming and pot-in-pot cooking, a clip-on Condensation Collector that catches lid run-off, and a Measuring Cup. A typical session: add water and food, seat the inner pot, lock the lid, turn the release valve to the sealed position, pick a program, and let the unit build and hold pressure. Cleaning means lifting out the inner pot and rinsing the sealing ring and anti-block shield, the parts that hold cooking odours.
