Electric Pasta Maker

Product

Overview

An electric pasta maker turns flour and water into fresh pasta in one machine without a separate kneading and rolling step. The cook pours measured flour into the bowl, the machine folds in water until the mixture forms a crumbly dough, and then an auger compresses that dough and forces it through a shaped die. A blade at the die face cuts the strands to length as they emerge. The whole run is automatic once the flour and water are loaded, so the same motor does the mixing and the extrusion in sequence rather than asking the cook to roll and cut by hand.

The machine is built around a Drive Unit that supplies slow, high-torque rotation, a Mixing Chamber chamber where the dough forms, an Extrusion Unit unit that builds pressure, and a Die Set that shapes the pasta. A Cutter Unit trims the output, a Water System meters the liquid, and a Control Board board runs the program. Everything sits in a molded Housing fed by the Power Input input.

Drive and gear reduction

Extruding stiff pasta dough needs far more torque than speed, so the Drive Unit pairs a modest Drive Motor with a heavy reduction. The motor runs at mains speed, and two Helical Gear Pair stages inside the Gearbox Housing bring the Output Shaft down to roughly thirty revolutions per minute while multiplying torque. The shaft turns on four Ball Bearing units and is sealed by two Oil Seal elements so gear grease cannot reach the food side. Because stiff dough can stall the auger, a Thermal Cutout cuts motor power if the windings get too hot, which protects the motor when a batch is mixed too dry.

Mixing the dough

The Mixing Chamber chamber is the first stage of the cycle. The cook drops flour into the removable Mixing Bowl, and the Mixing Paddle turns slowly while water is metered in. The paddle connects to the drive through a keyed Paddle Coupler that lets it lift out for washing, and a Bowl Seal keeps dough from working its way into the gearbox. Two fixed Wall Scraper fins push clinging dough back toward the paddle so the flour hydrates evenly. The goal at this stage is not a smooth ball but a damp crumb, since the extrusion stage does the real kneading under pressure.

Extrusion and dies

When mixing finishes, the dough drops through the Feed Gate into the Extrusion Unit barrel. The Extrusion Auger is a tapered screw whose pitch tightens toward the die, so it both conveys the crumb and compresses it into a dense plug inside the hardened Extrusion Barrel. An Auger Tip spreads the dough across the die face, and an O-Ring Set seals the joints so pressure builds rather than leaking back. A single Ball Bearing takes the axial thrust the auger generates. The shape comes from the Die Set: a threaded Die Ring clamps one brass plate at a time, and the machine ships with a Spaghetti Die, a Penne Die, a Fettuccine Die, and a Macaroni Die. A Die Cleaner pin tool clears dried dough from the holes after a run. Brass dies are used because the metal gives the pasta surface a slight roughness that holds sauce.

Cutting and water metering

As pasta extrudes, the Cutter Unit trims it to length. A small Cutter Motor drives the Cutting Blade on a Blade Arm through a Helical Gear Pair, sweeping it across the die at a timed interval set by the chosen shape. The cutter rides on a Cutter Mount at the barrel mouth. Hydration is handled by the Water System: the cook fills the graduated Measuring Cup to the mark for the flour amount, and a Water Valve releases it slowly down the Water Channel so the dough wets evenly instead of forming wet lumps. Correct water volume is the single biggest factor in whether the extrusion holds together, which is why the cup is marked rather than guessed.

Control and safety

The Control Board board carries an Microcontroller on a Bare PCB with SMD Passive (R/C/L), and it runs the sequence of mixing, resting, and extruding from the user's selection on the Button Pad. An LCD Panel shows the stage and a countdown, and two Relay devices switch the drive and cutter motors. A Wire Bundle and several Connector parts link the board to the motors and sensors. Safety rests on the Lid Switch, an interlock that stops both motors the moment the lid opens, so fingers cannot reach the paddle or auger while they turn.

Housing and power

The Housing is a molded Base Shell that holds the drive and supports the bowl and barrel, closed by a hinged Lid that trips the interlock and covered at the drive bay by a Sheet Metal Panel. Four Foot pads keep the machine planted under extrusion load, and a Fastener Set holds the shell together. Mains power enters through the Power Input unit: a Power Cord feeds a Rocker Switch and an Fuse that protects the wiring if a motor stalls, with a Connector terminal block joining the cord to the board.
