Electric Corkscrew Product

Overview

An electric corkscrew is a cordless handheld device designed to extract wine corks from bottles with minimal effort. Unlike traditional T-bar or waiter's-knife corkscrews that require manual twisting and pulling, this appliance motorizes the screw insertion and extracts the cork via mechanical advantage. The operator positions the Spiral Screw & Guide above a wine bottle's cork, presses the Trigger Button, and the motor spirals the Spiral Screw into the cork. An integrated Bottle-Holding Lever then pivots against the bottle neck rim to pull the cork free. An integrated Foil Cutter Blade cuts away the foil capsule before insertion. The whole device is powered by a rechargeable LiPo Cell (3.7 V 1800 mAh) and charges in the supplied Charging Dock dock.

The handle is ergonomic ABS plastic with a textured Grip Shell and a Trigger Button that activates the motor via a Motor Driver PCB. Inside, a brushless Brushless DC Motor spins at 12,000 rpm; a Reduction Gearhead reduces this to 1,200 rpm and multiplies torque to 1.5 N·m—more than enough to drive a hardened Spiral Screw through cork without stalling. A Reverse Switch allows the motor to spin backward if a cork breaks and needs removal.

How it works

Preparation. The operator removes the corkscrew from the Charging Dock dock (which indicates full charge with a green LED). They cut away the foil capsule around the bottle neck using the Foil Cutter Blade, then position the device above the bottle opening so the Guide Collar surrounds the neck and the Spiral Screw & Guide tip is centered over the cork.

Motor insertion. Pressing Trigger Button energizes the Brushless DC Motor at 3.7 V via the LiPo Cell. The brushless commutation is handled by Hall sensors in the motor; no carbon brushes are present, ensuring low noise and long life. The Reduction Gearhead (10:1 planetary reduction) spins at 1,200 rpm, converting high speed and low torque into low speed and high torque. The Spiral Screw rotates at 1,200 rpm, threading into the cork at 2.5 mm pitch. The Thrust Bearing supports the axial load as the spiral bites and advances. Typical insertion takes 6–8 seconds for a standard cork.

Extraction. Once the spiral is fully wound through the cork, the operator releases the trigger momentarily. They then engage the Bottle-Holding Lever, pivoting it down against the bottle rim so that the Pivot Joint creates a fulcrum. The cork is still attached to the Extraction Sleeve (which rides on the Spiral Screw). The operator can now gently press downward on the handle grip, using the lever as a mechanical advantage. The cork lifts free and the corkscrew separates. Total extraction time: 2–3 seconds.

Reverse (stuck cork). If a cork splinters or resists normal extraction, the operator flips the Reverse Switch to reverse motor direction. Pressing the trigger spins the spiral backward, unscrewing it and allowing safe removal. The Power MOSFET switches polarity on demand.

Battery management. The LiPo Cell has an integrated Battery Management IC (battery management IC) that prevents overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits. A low-battery led-indicator on the handle glows when voltage drops below 3.2 V, signaling time to recharge. The Charging Dock dock uses two gold-plated pogo pins (Spring Pogo Pin) aligned with mating pins on the base, delivering 5 V 1 A to the BMS. Full charge takes ≈90 minutes. A single charge enables 25–30 cork extractions; with brief pauses between bottles (allowing the motor and gearhead to cool), 50+ extractions are possible before recharging is needed.

All components are sealed with O-Ring Set gaskets at the junction between the motor pod and grip, preventing moisture ingress. The Waterproof Gasket ensures the device tolerates splashing and condensation from wine bottles and ice buckets.
