AV Lectern Product
Overview
An AV lectern is a motorized presentation stand combining a height-adjustable reading surface with an integrated audio-visual rack, gooseneck microphone, and connectivity interface for modern classrooms, conference facilities, and auditoriums. Unlike fixed podiums, the lectern rises or lowers electrically to accommodate presenters of any stature—from seated wheelchair use to standing presentations—improving sightlines to the audience and reducing physical strain during long talks.
The lectern houses microphone amplification, speaker monitoring, video switching, and power distribution internally, with all external connectors (HDMI, USB, XLR, and audio) accessible on the control panel for easy device connection. An integrated gooseneck microphone captures voice clearly without the presenter having to hold or adjust a handheld, and onboard speakers or a connection to a room sound system allow confidence monitoring and audience audio output.
How it works
Pressing an up or down button on the Control Panel or a wireless remote energizes the Height Adjustment Motor. The motor drives a Lead Screw Assembly and nut, converting rotational motion into linear vertical movement of the Vertical Column. As the column rises or falls, the Top Surface and all equipment above move with it; internal cable slack is managed by the Cable Management system, which keeps wiring bundled and routed through clips and sleeves away from the moving mechanism. The Height Position Sensor continuously reports column position, and when either the upper or lower Height Adjustment Motor limit switch is triggered, the motor stops automatically.
The Gooseneck Microphone is mounted to the top surface and remains fixed; its flexible arm allows the presenter to position the microphone at any angle without mechanical adjustment. The cardioid Microphone Capsule captures voice while rejecting ambient noise, and the Pop Filter reduces plosive sounds. Audio signals travel via balanced XLR Audio Connector connectors to an amplifier or mixer in the integrated Equipment Rack.
Video and computer inputs connect to the Connector Plate, which routes signals to a switching matrix in the rack or directly to the room's projection system. The Touchscreen Control allows the presenter to select input sources, adjust volume, and activate auxiliary functions. Power for all components flows through the Switched Power Strip, which can be switched remotely or via the touch interface, enabling the presenter to activate or deactivate audience displays and audio amplification from the lectern.
The Base Platform provides wide stance and stability, while the Footrest Assembly offers comfort during long presentations and helps reduce fatigue. The Finish Panels enclose the rack and internal wiring, creating a professional finished appearance, with removable access panels allowing technicians to service components without disconnecting the entire unit.
