Air Conditioner

Overview

A split air conditioner divides the refrigeration system across two enclosures linked by insulated copper lines. The Outdoor Unit carries the compressor, condenser coil, and inverter drive, while the Indoor Unit mounts on an interior wall and delivers conditioned air to the room. The two halves are joined by the Interconnect Kit, which bundles the liquid line, gas line, control cable, and condensate drain. Splitting the system this way keeps the noisy, heat-rejecting components outside and leaves only a quiet evaporator and fan indoors.

This unit is a reversible heat pump charged with R32, a lower-GWP refrigerant that has largely displaced R410A in residential equipment.

How it works

In cooling mode the compressor raises refrigerant pressure and temperature, sending hot vapor to the outdoor condenser coil where it sheds heat and condenses to liquid. The liquid passes through an electronic expansion valve, dropping in pressure and temperature, then enters the indoor coil. There it absorbs heat from room air and boils back to vapor before returning to the compressor.

Inverter control is the defining feature: rather than cycling on and off, the drive electronics vary compressor speed continuously to match the cooling load, holding temperature within a fraction of a degree and cutting the energy spikes of fixed-speed starts. A reversing valve in the outdoor unit swaps the roles of the two coils for heating, extracting heat from outdoor air even in sub-freezing conditions.

The Remote Control sets mode, temperature, and fan speed by infrared, and the Wall Mounting Bracket hardware secures both units to their mounting surfaces. Condensate collected at the indoor coil drains by gravity through the interconnect bundle.
