Overview

A range hood captures the grease-laden, humid air a cooktop throws off and either ducts it outdoors or scrubs and recirculates it back into the kitchen. This is a wall-mounted chimney model: a stainless Canopy & Chimney Body hangs above the hob, its canopy forming a plenum that the Centrifugal Blower draws through, and a telescopic flue cover conceals the duct run up to the ceiling. A curved glass visor at the front edge widens the capture area without adding bulk.

Air entering the canopy first passes through two Baffle Grease Filter units. These dishwasher-safe stainless baffles condense airborne fat onto their plates, where it drains down into the Oil Collector Cup for periodic emptying. When no outdoor duct is available, a Charcoal Filter clips over the blower inlet so the hood can run in recirculation mode, stripping odours before returning the air to the room.

The cook sets fan speed and lighting from the Control Panel, a capacitive touch fascia, while two recessed LED Task Light spots throw warm task light onto the pans below.

How it works

Suction comes from the Centrifugal Blower, a double-inlet centrifugal fan. Its Fan Motor is a multi-speed single-phase induction motor: the Control Board switches taps on the windings through relays to step the fan between speeds, and a run capacitor phase-shifts the auxiliary winding so the rotor starts and runs. The motor spins two galvanised impellers that fling air radially into the Scroll Housing, whose volute shape converts that velocity into the static pressure needed to push the flow down a long duct.

From the scroll the air exits through the Duct Collar & Damper. A gravity backdraft damper inside it opens under fan pressure and falls shut when the motor stops, blocking cold outdoor air, insects and cooking smells from flowing back in.

Pressing a key on the Control Panel is read by the touch digitizer, whose controller signals the board MCU. The board energises the matching speed and lighting relays off a small mains supply, and the same wiring loom feeds the LED Task Light drivers. The whole canopy hangs from a keyhole wall plate in the Mounting Bracket Set set, with a separate strap fixing the upper flue section near the ceiling so the chimney cover stays plumb.
