Dolby Atmos Soundbar

Product

Overview

The soundbar reproduces object-based Dolby Atmos audio from a single bar plus a paired wireless subwoofer. Up-firing drivers bounce height channels off the ceiling and side-firing drivers widen the soundstage, so a 7.1.4 presentation is approximated without rear satellites. A four-microphone array calibrates the system to the room automatically.

How it works

Audio enters the Main Board over HDMI eARC, optical, Bluetooth, or WiFi. Its DSP/SoC decodes the Atmos or DTS:X stream, separates the audio objects, and steers them to the appropriate transducers; the system's room-EQ filters, derived from the Microphone Array, correct for placement and boundary effects. An array of Class-D Amplifier IC ICs then powers each channel efficiently with minimal heat.

The amplified channels drive the Driver Array. Racetrack woofers and dome Tweeter units handle the front soundstage, the Up-Firing Atmos Driver units fire upward for height, and the Side-Firing Surround Driver units angle outward to broaden the field. Passive radiators extend low-frequency output from the sealed bar volume, all mounted in the Bar Enclosure with damping foam to control resonance.

Low bass is offloaded to the Wireless Subwoofer, a standalone ported cabinet that receives an uncompressed 5.8 GHz wireless feed, decodes it in its own receiver, and drives an 8-inch driver through a dedicated Class-D amplifier board. Because the subwoofer carries its own amplifier and supply, only mains power and the wireless link reach it.

User control runs through the Control Panel for IR and capacitive touch input, with a status display and bundled remote rounding out the interface.
