High-Speed Trainset
ProductOverview
A high-speed trainset is an electric multiple unit in which traction is spread along the train rather than concentrated in a locomotive. This eight-car set runs two Power Car (Driving Head) driving heads at the ends with six Intermediate Car bodies between them. Current is drawn from a 25 kV overhead line through a Pantograph, stepped down by a Main Traction Transformer, and converted by Traction Converter units that feed motors on eight Traction Bogie assemblies. The set is tied together by Automatic Coupler couplers at the ends and Semi-Permanent Coupler bars between cars, with the Train Control & Management System, Signaling System, and Passenger Information & CCTV systems overlaid across all vehicles.
Carbody and power car
Each Power Car (Driving Head) carries a streamlined FRP Nose Cone FRP fairing over a Crash Energy-Absorbing Structure, a driver Driver Cab built around the Cab Console & Windshield, and the passenger-facing Car Interior, Passenger Door, and Roof HVAC Unit. The structure is the Carbody Shell, a lightweight assembly of an aluminium Underframe, extruded Sidewall Panel panels, and a Roof Panel & HV Line that routes the high-voltage line. A single shell is held by roughly 180,000 Carbody Rivet & Weld Stud rivets, bolts, and weld studs, which is why a full sixteen-car set tallies near three million parts.
Current collection and conversion
The roof Pantograph is a single-arm collector: a Pantograph Base Frame frame, a Pantograph Arm Set set, a sprung Pantograph Head with carbon contact strips, and a Pantograph Drive Actuator actuator. Collected power reaches the Main Traction Transformer, whose grain-oriented Transformer Core and copper windings step the voltage down, cooled by the Oil Tank & Cooler. Each Traction Converter then rectifies and inverts the supply for the motors, with a Converter Gate Driver Stack stack, Liquid Cold Plate liquid cooling, and a Converter Cabinet.
Bogies and running gear
The powered Traction Bogie is built on a welded Bogie Frame carrying two Wheelset assemblies, each combining a Wheelset Axle, two Monobloc Wheel monobloc wheels, and axle bearings. Two Traction Motor units drive through a Gear Unit. Ride is controlled by Primary Suspension Spring coil springs, secondary Air Spring bellows, Yaw Damper units, and an Anti-Roll Bar. Braking combines the Disc Brake Unit disc brakes, built from a Axle Brake Disc, Brake Caliper, and Brake Pad, with a track-acting Eddy-Current Brake. The non-powered Trailer Bogie shares the frame, wheelsets, and suspension without motors.
Interior and onboard systems
Passenger space is fitted out by the Car Interior with seating, a Seatback Table at each row, and a Luggage Rack. Each intermediate car adds a Toilet Module with a Vacuum Toilet and Waste Holding Tank. Climate is handled by the Roof HVAC Unit with its HVAC Compressor and Cabin Air Filter. The Passenger Door is a plug-sliding leaf pair, the Door Leaf & Seal, driven by its own motor and controller.
Control and signalling
The Train Control & Management System is the train-wide control network that supervises every subsystem. The Signaling System system provides automatic train protection through an ETCS / ATP Onboard Unit, a GSM-R Radio, and a Balise Antenna pair that reads trackside markers. The end Automatic Coupler joins a Coupler Head, Draft Gear, and Electric Coupler, while the inter-car Semi-Permanent Coupler uses a fixed Coupler Bar.
