Case Sealer (Tape) Product

Overview

A tape case sealer closes the top and bottom seams of a filled regular slotted carton with pressure-sensitive tape, finishing the box for shipping. The semi-automatic type does the seaming work while an operator folds the top flaps and pushes each carton in; the machine grips it, drives it through, and tapes both seams in a single pass. It is the workhorse at the end of most hand-pack lines because one machine matches the output of several manual tapers and lays a straight, consistent seal.

Both tape heads and conveyors mount on the Frame & Base, and the Control Box starts the belts and motors.

How it works

A carton with its top flaps folded shut enters on the Infeed Conveyor and is caught by the Side Drive Belts — two long driven belts that pinch the case sides and propel it through the machine at a constant speed. Their spacing, set by a hand crank for the case width, is what carries the carton rather than dragging it on the deck, so the top flaps stay aligned.

As the case moves, it passes between the Top Tape Head and the Bottom Tape Head. Each head is a self-contained cartridge: a leading applicator roller wipes the tape leg onto the front of the carton, the case carries the tape across the seam, a trailing buff roller presses it down, and a Cut-off Blade shears the tape for the next box, with coil springs keeping the rollers loaded against the carton. The Top Head Mast sets the top head to the case height and holds the flaps closed under a sprung shoe as the box enters. The sealed carton leaves on the Outfeed Conveyor.
