Inflatable Kayak

Overview

The inflatable kayak is a single-seat drop-stitch touring boat that packs into a backpack yet inflates to a rigid 3.2 m hull. The welded Hull uses a high-pressure drop-stitch floor and two side tubes for stiffness comparable to a hardshell, and the kit ships complete with a Seat Assembly, a take-apart Paddle, a double-action Hand Pump and a Carry Backpack.

Construction

The hull is built from reinforced PVC and drop-stitch fabric panels joined with heat-welded seam tape rather than glue, giving airtight joints that tolerate repeated folding. Its drop-stitch floor chamber holds thousands of internal threads that let it inflate to around 10 psi and stay flat and rigid underfoot, while the two lower-pressure side tubes and welded end cones form the buoyant perimeter and shape the bow and stern. Each chamber inflates through a Valve Assembly Boston valve: a spring-loaded one-way core lets air in while the user pumps and seals it on release, with a tethered cap for a dust-tight finish.

Outfitting bonds directly to the hull. The seat assembly is an inflatable foam-backed base with an adjustable padded backrest held by quick-release webbing straps, set against an inflatable Footrest block for bracing. A removable Skeg Assembly slots a tracking fin into a bonded hull channel to improve straight-line tracking, and a Deck Rigging set adds bonded D-rings, grab handles and a perimeter bungee line.

The double-action hand pump moves air on both the push and pull stroke through a check valve, with an inline gauge so each chamber is brought to its rated pressure. A Spray Deck keeps water out of the cockpit, and a Repair Kit of self-adhesive patches and PVC glue handles field punctures.
