Overhead Coiling Grille Product
Overview
An overhead coiling grille secures an opening without blocking the view through it. Unlike a solid shutter, its curtain is an open lattice, so a closed shopfront or car-park entrance still lets light and sightlines through while keeping people and stock out. When opened, the whole curtain rolls up compactly into a hood above the head, clearing the opening completely.
The curtain is the defining part. The Grille Curtain is built from vertical aluminium Vertical Rod elements held at a fixed pitch by horizontal Link Bar links — an articulated lattice that is rigid enough to resist forcing yet flexes to wrap around a barrel. Cast Endlock endlocks on each edge run inside the Guide Track side tracks, which hold the curtain in plane against wind and stop it being levered out. At the floor, a weighted Bottom Bar & Locks seats the curtain and carries its locks.
How it works
The curtain coils onto the Roll-Up Barrel, a steel tube spanning the head on end bearings. Lifting an entire grille is heavy, so inside the barrel an Counterbalance Spring torsion spring winds up as the curtain drops and stores that energy to give it back on the way up — the drive then only fights friction, not the full curtain weight. Drive comes from the Tubular Gear Operator: a brushless Tubular Drive Motor geared down through a reduction stage to turn the barrel, with a hand-chain hoist to crank it manually in a power cut.
Operation is sequenced by the Control Board board. Its MCU reads open, stop and close commands plus the geared Limit Switch positions, and switches the motor through relays. While closing, a sensing edge on the bottom bar reverses the grille if it meets an obstruction. The coiled curtain and barrel are hidden and weather-protected behind the Head Hood, with all loads carried into the structure through the end End Bracket Plate plates.
