Overview
The rear-loader garbage truck is a manual or semi-automated refuse collection vehicle used primarily in Europe and developing markets. It combines a rear-mounted hopper with horizontal compaction blades that shred and compress waste fed manually by collection crew members standing on the truck's running board or steps.
Unlike the side-loader (which automates the bin grab entirely) or the front-loader (which serves large commercial dumpsters), the rear-loader requires active crew participation.
