Mirrorless Camera

Overview

A mirrorless camera is an interchangeable-lens camera that omits the reflex mirror and optical viewfinder of a DSLR. Light passes straight from the lens onto the image sensor at all times; the photographer composes on an electronic preview fed live from that sensor. Removing the mirror box shrinks the body and allows the sensor to drive autofocus and exposure directly. This is a full-frame body with weather sealing, in-body stabilisation, and a bundled kit zoom.

At the optical core is the Sensor / IBIS Unit, a full-frame CMOS sensor mounted on the in-body stabilisation platform. The platform floats the sensor on electromagnetic actuators that shift it to counteract hand shake across five axes. In front of it sits the Mechanical Shutter, a mechanical focal-plane shutter that times the exposure, supplemented by an electronic shutter for silent capture.

Construction

Captured charge is read out and processed by the Main Processor Board, which carries the image processor that demosaics, denoises, and encodes each frame. Composition uses two displays: the Electronic Viewfinder electronic viewfinder for eye-level shooting and the Rear LCD Module tilting touchscreen for waist-level and selfie angles.

Shooting controls are split between the Top LCD & Dials (top LCD, mode and exposure dials) and the Control Board (rear buttons and joystick). Lenses attach at the Lens Mount, a bayonet that carries electronic contacts for focus and aperture drive; the bundled Kit Zoom Lens is a 24–105 mm zoom.

Power comes from a removable Battery Pack, and images are written to the Dual Card Slot Module dual bay for overflow or instant backup. The I/O Port Module provide HDMI, USB-C, and microphone connections, while the Body Chassis is a magnesium-alloy shell whose seams are weather-sealed against dust and moisture.
