Agricultural Tractor

Overview

An agricultural tractor delivers traction and power to farm implements: pulling ploughs and trailers, driving rotary equipment through the power take-off, and lifting mounted tools on the rear hitch. A 4WD utility tractor balances drawbar pull, PTO power and hydraulic lift in a machine sized for general field and yard work. Power comes from a common-rail Turbo-Diesel Engine feeding a Powershift Transmission that splits drive to both axles.

Large rear drive wheels and a Rear Drive Axle carry most of the traction, while the steerable Front Drive Axle (4WD) adds 4WD pull and turns under hydrostatic Hydrostatic Steering.

How it works

The engine drives a powershift transmission that changes ratio under load without breaking torque, sending power to the rear axle and, when engaged, forward to the 4WD front axle. A rear PTO taps engine speed to drive implements such as mowers and balers at standard 540 or 1000 rpm.

The Hydraulic System system runs the three-point hitch, whose two lift arms and cylinders raise and lower mounted implements while the top and lower links set their geometry; remote valves feed external cylinders on trailed equipment. The implement is positioned by hitch geometry and held by draft control that senses soil load.

For traction the rear axle carries a differential lock and wet-disc brakes, with planetary final drives reducing speed and multiplying torque at each wheel. Ballast, front suitcase weights and wheel weights, keeps the front planted and the drive tyres gripping under heavy draft loads. The operator works from a Operator Cab with a ROPS frame, HVAC and instrument cluster, and a 12-volt Electrical System system handles starting, charging and lighting.
