Home Battery Storage

Overview

A home battery storage system stores electricity for later use, letting a household shift solar generation into the evening, ride through grid outages, and arbitrage time-of-use tariffs. This 10 kWh wall-mounted unit pairs lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells with an integrated hybrid inverter, so a single appliance handles both solar conversion and battery management. LFP chemistry is chosen for its thermal stability, long cycle life, and full-depth discharge.

Construction

The energy is held in four LFP Battery Module units of about 2.5 kWh each, series-connected to form a roughly 51.2 V DC pack. Each module contains prismatic LFP cells with cell-level monitoring. Oversight of the whole pack falls to the Pack BMS Master, the battery management master that balances cells, tracks state of charge and health, and enforces voltage, current, and temperature limits.

The Hybrid Inverter is the power-conversion core: it accepts PV DC input, charges and discharges the battery, and produces grid-synchronised 230 V AC, switching seamlessly to backup mode on grid loss. A Communications Gateway links the system to the home network and cloud monitoring, while the Front Panel Display shows charge level, power flow, and faults at a glance.

Thermal control comes from the Cooling Fan, which moves air through the enclosure under high load. Safety isolation is provided by the DC Isolator Switch, a manual DC switch that disconnects the battery from the inverter for service.

Everything is housed in the Wall-Mount Enclosure, an IP65 wall-mount cabinet fixed by the Wall Mounting Bracket and bonded through the Ground Bonding Kit. Internal power and signal connections use a shared Wire Bundle harness.
