Fire-Tube Boiler Product
Overview
A fire-tube boiler makes steam by passing hot combustion gas through tubes that run inside a water-filled shell, so the heat transfers from the gas, through the tube walls, into the surrounding water until it boils. It is the classic packaged steam generator for heating, sterilization, food processing and light industrial process steam — rugged, forgiving of load swings thanks to its large water volume, and shipped as a complete unit ready to fire. The three-pass wet-back design routes the gas through the furnace and two further tube banks, extracting more heat from each kilogram of fuel before it reaches the stack.
The whole machine is a pressure vessel wrapped around a furnace, with a burner at one end, safety and level controls on top, and feedwater and stack connections at the back. Because it stores a large mass of hot water under pressure, its safety systems — relief valves, low-water protection and flame supervision — are as important as the heat-transfer surfaces themselves.
How it works
Combustion starts at the Burner, a forced-draft unit whose blower pushes air while the fuel train meters gas or oil; an ignition electrode lights the flame and a flame scanner proves it is burning before fuel keeps flowing. The flame fires into the water-backed Furnace, the first gas pass, where most of the heat radiates directly into the water. Hot gas then reverses and threads back through the Pressure Vessel — the shell, tube sheets and fire-tube bundle that form the boiler's heart — giving up more heat by convection on each pass.
Water level and steam conditions are watched constantly. The Water & Steam Controls controls reference the drum level through a water column and probe, modulate the Feedwater Pump to replace what boils off, and trip the burner on low water before the tubes can overheat. Overpressure is relieved mechanically by the spring-loaded Safety Relief Valves, which lift independently of any electronics.
Before the flue gas leaves, the Economizer recovers stack heat into the incoming feedwater, then the gas exits through the Exhaust Stack, where an oxygen sensor lets the controller trim combustion air. Tying it together, the Control Panel runs the burner-management sequence, modulates firing rate to steam demand, and presents alarms and trends on its operator touchscreen.
