Bulldozer

Product

Overview

A bulldozer is a tracked crawler tractor that pushes earth, rock, and rubble with a large front blade. The combination of a low-slung centre of gravity, full-length steel undercarriage, and high-torque powertrain lets it exert enormous drawbar pull at low ground pressure, making it the primary tool for bulk dozing, site clearing, ripping, and finish grading. A rear ripper breaks hardpan and rock that the blade alone cannot move.

Power flows from the Diesel Engine through the Powertrain to dual Undercarriage track assemblies, while the Blade Work Tool and Ripper do the work.

How it works

The Diesel Engine is a turbocharged, aftercooled diesel sized for sustained high-torque operation. Its output passes into the Powertrain: a torque converter (or torque-divider) feeds a powershift transmission, then a bevel gear and differential-steering or clutch-brake system splits drive to two planetary final drives. Each final drive turns a sprocket that engages the track chain of one Undercarriage, so the operator steers by slowing or reversing one track relative to the other.

The Blade Work Tool hangs from push arms pinned to the track frames and is positioned by hydraulic cylinders for lift, and on angle/tilt blades, for pitch and angle. The Hydraulic System system supplies these cylinders and the Ripper from an engine-driven pump and valve bank. A rear Counterweight balances the loaded blade and keeps tracks loaded for traction.

The operator works from a sealed, pressurised Operator Cab built around a ROPS/FOPS structure, with the Electrical System system providing starting, charging, lighting, and the ECU that governs engine and transmission shift logic. Frame and group connections use a heavy Fastener Set rated for the machine's structural loads.
