Concrete Mixer Truck
ProductOverview
A concrete mixer truck, or transit mixer, carries ready-mixed concrete from a batching plant to the pour site while keeping it agitated so it does not set or segregate in transit. It pairs a heavy road Truck Chassis with a Mixer Superstructure built around a slowly rotating drum. The slow turn during travel keeps aggregate, cement and water blended; reversing the drum at the site discharges the load.
Construction
The chassis is a conventional 6×4 heavy truck: a bolted ladder frame carrying a diesel Diesel Engine, a Transmission with a power take-off, tandem rear drive axles, a front steering axle and full-air brakes. The PTO is the key feature, tapping engine power to drive the mixer rather than the road wheels.
The superstructure centres on the Mixing Drum, a pear-shaped steel vessel with twin internal helical blades. Charging the drum and turning it one way folds the mix inward; reversing the rotation makes the same spirals screw the concrete out through the rear opening. The drum rides on a front trunnion and rests at the rear on a Roller Support cradle, where support rollers carry a riding ring welded to the drum.
Rotation comes from the Hydraulic Drum Drive: the PTO turns a hydraulic pump, oil flows to a motor, and a planetary reducer multiplies torque to spin the heavy loaded drum. A Chute System system loads from a top hopper and pours through a swiveling, folding discharge chute. An onboard Water System provides wash-down and slump water, and the operator works the drum from a rear control station on the Access Platform.
