A back-loading single-disc cutter with a 483 mm (19 in) ring. The ring rolls on the rock face under a load of up to 311 kN and crushes it under the tip, and the cracks spreading between neighboring tracks break off chips. It is sealed, filled with lubricant and changed as one unit from inside the cutterhead.
